Twenty years ago today, that is to say on March 5, 2005, the very first “video capsule” of The Culinary Anarchy according to Bob (L’Anarchie Culinaire selon Bob) was uploaded to this blog. At the time of that first shoot, no one in that kitchen really knew what they were doing (especially Bob). Note that, if we had kept the first take, the project could have been called “The Culinary Carnival according to Bob”. Chance does things well. 😂

Youtube is played out
Celebrating it’s 20th anniversary today, the Youtube platform is now officially old enough to complain about how everything was better in the good ol’ days.
Some perspective for those old enough to remember 2005, here’s some companies and organizations who celebrated their 20th birthday back then.
- Microsoft Windows (Windows 1.0) – Microsoft launched the first version of Windows in November 1985.
- Dell Inc. – Michael Dell founded the company as “PC’s Limited” in 1984, but it officially became Dell in 1985.
- Symbolics.com – The first-ever registered domain name on the Internet, on March 15, 1985.
- Blockbuster Video – The first Blockbuster video rental store opened in 1985.
- Discovery Channel – The popular documentary channel was launched on June 17, 1985.
- Studio Ghibli – The legendary Japanese animation studio was officially founded in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, and Toshio Suzuki.
- Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in North America – The NES was launched in the U.S. in 1985, bringing iconic games like Super Mario Bros.
- Rare Ltd. – The British video game studio, creator of Donkey Kong Country and GoldenEye 007, was founded in 1985.
- Tommy Hilfiger – The American fashion brand was founded in 1985.
- Costco Wholesale – Although its origins date back to 1983, the merger that created Costco in its current form happened in 1985.
- Keurig – The company known for its coffee pod machines was founded in 1985.
